I am in need of some help.
I have a 1997 Z28 Camaro with lt1 6sp. I had a hole in the wall shop repair it. The guy charged me 220 for the clutch and 600 total cost. It wouldnt go into 1st gear very smooth. so 2 days later i took it back to him to have it adjusted/fixed. He said that he had adjusted it. I had the motor replaced tow months later & my new mechanic who built and installed my motor said it was bad.my new mechanic said that my old mechanic had never drained the slave cylinder & in 97 the slave cylinder was not adjustable on my car(So how did he adjust my clutch with out taking out the trans?). The man who built my motor said it wouldn’t last long before it broke. sure enough 75 miles later it goes out.
The guy is an old Mexican man who pays some Mexican who speaks almost no English (Illegal?) to work on the cars. I am going to go to his shop tomorrow. I dont know how to approach it & what to say to him to get him to replace it with no charge and fix it. The clutch has less than 1000 miles on it and was done 9/9/09 then the motor was blown a month later (not from hard driving) and parked for two months until 4 days ago. So the clutch should still be under warranty with who ever he bought it friom. I know he used a crappy clutch that wouldnt be able to hold that kind of performance for a long time but i need a new one that’ll last me until I get another job and can afford it.
What should I do? How should I approach it. If he is unwilling what can I do to scare him into replacing it. He is not registered on the BBB. And even I know that they cant do anything because they are just a company (Franchise) and not a GOV regulated company. All I want him to do is to put a new clutch in it and install it for me. I would prefer not to make a big deal and take him to court but would like to know what I can do if it needs to come to that. Or at least how it works so I can use the leverage to get him to do it. I dont want the new motor to ruin my chances of getting this issue resolved. The mechanic who installed it has been building Corvette motors for over 15 years and knows his stuff. Would recommend him to anyone. But I need to have this issue fixed asap.
I really appreciate any help or advice that you can give me. Thank you very much.
Well this is buyer be ware, even in court you don’t stand a chance. First off if you had a guy who can build a motor for you why not get him to do the clutch? Also so you know clutches have nothing to do with your engine braking down. The clutch is the safety between your motor and your transmission, it will fail before your engine or transmission. The only thing that can damage an engine beyond repair is connecting rod failure and that has nothing to do with the clutch, as a matter of fact even if the clutch was in direct contact at all times unless you release the clutch your vehicle would be going nowhere. Just so you also know a Corvette engine is idiot proof GM did not want to risk it here with their pride an joy, anyone with a manual can fix a corvette engine, also if you look into it a Corvette engine has about 10 less components than your conventional V8 engine, making it highly tunable. I mean for 600 bucks you could of gotten just about any reputable shop to do it why didn’t you..That is what they will tell you in court…

how much a replacement engine pully and clutch cost for an 70s-80s model john deere 214 its the clutch on then engine the engages when you turn the deck engage lever upwards its a slip clutch basically thank you
My neighbor just found out that it would cost too much for the parts and they didn’t even have some of what he needed. They just don’t make some of those parts anymore. You would be better off buying a new John Deer I think. Cost would be almost the same.

my car needs new clutch and i already bought a new clutch kit.my problem is i cant find my repair manual.can anybody suggest any website that could help me step-by-step on how to do it myself.
It is a vary time consuming process and easy to, how shall I say it, screw it up. There is a reason that a shop charges you $1,000 in labor to do the job.

Greetings all. I have a 1991 Toyota Corolla with manual transmission with some clutch and gear problems. I have limited automotive knowledge so i was hoping to get some help here. My clutch is really loose and there is a lot of play when i push it up and down, it bounces back on pressing it down and releasing it. It was getting really hard to put the car into gear and now it is almost impossible. When i have the clutch completely pressed down it is almost impossible to get it into the first or second gear. I can however get it into reverse occasionally, however it starts moving immediately and occasionally stops on getting into that gear. I noticed that once i tried putting it into 3rd gear with the clutch pressed very firmly down (loose as it is) and it moved very slowly forward. What i can understand is that the transmission seems to be fine. Its seems that the clutch is not being completely depressed for the gears to be put it in. To my fault, i haven’t changed the oil in some time also. My question is what exactly might be happening here that might be the cause?
More importantly, I’m concerned about knowing how to get this fixed and if anybody could provide me with a rough estimate of how much it will cost me (South Carolina region) ? I’m a struggling graduate student in school and don’t really have a lot to spend on the car. If its expensive, I’ll be forced to sell it off. Thanks in advance!!
Bugs
Your clutch is not "releasing". I do not think that your clutch is adjustable. Hydraulic actuation. The clutch surfaces and possibly the "throw-out" bearing are not operating properly. They will need to be inspected by a qualified tech and probably replaced. If you continue to drive the car, the transmission will be you next problem. Cost for replacement of clutch and throw-out..$1000 or so.

79 Chevy 1/2 ton truck, 454 engine (3.08 gears now, shooting for 4.10s which is why i want the 700r4. That and the low 3.06 first gear). If the 700r4 is modified with extra clutches and the corvette converter and servos and whatever else and a large cooler could it handle the 454 and a max of say 7 or 8k pounds? It shouldnt have to do it frequently, this truck is just a backup in case my other truck breaks down. Id rather not have the expense of a 4L80E and standalone controller.
yes to everything!
